The Power Of Forgiveness
How letting go of pain and anger can set you free.
The Word of God shows us that trusting in the Lord means learning to look upon the past with compassion and allow yourself and others to heal. It the foundation of our Father as God proved his love for us by sending His only Son to die for our sins.
Matthew 6:14-15 tells us:
"14 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins."
Forgiveness will set you free.
It isn't easy to let go of many things people do that we feel wrongs us and hurts us. But those feelings imprison our souls and weigh us down. By forgiving those hurtful people and deeds, you are giving your troubles to God and working towards being more Christlike in the process. The Lord knows the havoc unforgiveness can wreck, and instead, he wants us to let go and feel his power and mercy.
But forgiveness is not for others alone. The Bible says God doesn't keep track of our wrongdoings. All we need to do to be worthy of God's forgiveness is to repent. There has never been a better moment than now. Now is the time to forgive yourself…for everything, and see yourself through the eyes of God as the perfect image of himself.
We all fail and will continue to do so.
Life is full of suffering, struggles, trials and pain. We will offend and be offended by people until the day we die even if we live the most Christian life. We've all made stupid mistakes!
Look around, and you will see many signs that we are living at the end of days. Timothy 3:2 NIV tells us that "2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people." Whether you believe this or not, getting attacked or feeling hurt is inevitable and if we learn to forgive, we will all live out the rest of our days in a peace that can only come from God.
Vengeance Is Mine Says The Lord
Yes, it is difficult to forgive, and not all circumstances are the same. Yet no matter how much we feel the pain or struggle to forgive, we must never forget anyone cares more about our bleeding hearts than the Lord. But even if our offenders don't accept the healing of forgiveness, leave it up to the Lord. He will deal with every one of them in his own time.
If God, who is sinless and without flaw, says we're forgiven and that we should, in turn, forgive, we must have faith and believe it is true. That's the only way for God's healing love to manifest itself in our lives.
