Is Jesus Coming Again?
There are several confusing theories about the second coming of Christ. But in John 14:1-3 it is promised that he will return.
"Let not your heart be troubled...In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also."
The very first time Jesus came to earth, there were but a handful of people who were aware of his coming. While this time around, we don't know when the second coming of Christ will take place - only God the Father knows - we know it will happen quickly and must keep watch.
Matthew 24:36, 40, 42 tells us, "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father... Two men will be in the field; one will be taken, and the other left. Two women will be grinding with the hand mill; one will be taken, and the other left... Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come".
While several passages in the Bible deal with his return, here's what we should know.
S - It will happen SUDDENLY. "For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man." Matthew 24:27
E - The coming of Jesus is ESSENTIAL to uphold his teachings and bring justice to his faithful. He will come again!
C - The final judgement of Christ will be COMPLETE after he has come, raised the dead and conquered evil for a Millennium.
O - While there may be many books saying Jesus has already arrived in secret, this isn't true. But true Christians will know this isn't possible based on what is promised at the end of the day. It will be OBVIOUS! There will be no mistaking it at all.
N - "But about that day or hour NO ONE knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father." Matthew 24:36 Jesus, in his humility, tells us that the only one who knows this is God, the Father who is above all.
D - There are a number of terrible things that will happen towards the end of days. Still, among them, the most significant is the emergence of DOUBTERS.
2 Thessalonians 2:1-4 tells us "2 Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you, 2 not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of [a]Christ had come. 3 Let no one deceive you by any means; for that day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of [b]sin is revealed, the son of perdition, 4 who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshipped, so that he sits [c]as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God."
Jesus cautioned us about false prophets and pretenders calling themselves Christ. That's why it is important to arm ourselves with the Bible and stay true to its words.
